This will be a unique experience, with emphasis on wine education, including food and wine pairing, fine art exhibits, great music, and for those participating, a wine judging contest. Our head judge for the judging will be the assistant Dean for the School of Enology from the University of Bordeaux, France, Pierre-Louis Teissedre.
The event is co-sponsored by the Mount Airy Rotary Club in cooperation with the Mount Airy Downtown Business Association, and The Mount Airy News.
Rotary proceeds will be given to the Rotary Foundation for their shared campaign with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, to eradicate polio in the four remaining third world countries, and the United Fund of Surry.
The 1st Annual Bud Break Festival held in Downtown Mount Airy.
May 1, 2010 11am-6pm in Downtown Mount Airy! Gates Open at 11am and The Music will begin at 12 noon. This Main event will take place in the 400 Block of Main Street where the Streets will be blocked off. Upscale Arts and Crafts will be located at The Museum Annex at the Mount Airy Museum of Regional History.
Wine and Dinner Pairings Featured on Thursday and Friday and the Main Bud Break Festival will take place on May 1, 2010 in Downtown Mount Airy.

The 1st Annual Bud Break Wine Festival in Downtown Mount Airy is open to the public (for your safety and the safety of others, please leave your pets at home). Craft vendor will take place at The Mount Airy Museum of Regional History in the Annex Building Adjacent to the Festival and music will take place adjacent to the wine tasting area.
Food and non-wine beverages will be available for purchase from selected vendors. Anyone tasting, purchasing or consuming wine at the festival must be at least 21 years of age. Additionally, to comply with North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement regulations, ANYONE tasting, purchasing or consuming wine will be required to show positive photographic identification and obtain a tasting wristband (which includes a Bud Break Wine Festival Glass). For insurance, health and safety reasons, pets are prohibited from the Festival. No outside coolers may be brought into the Festival. For your convenience, you may purchase and check your wine (multiple bottle packs and cases) at our wine-check area and have it held securely until you are ready to leave the festival.
