Thanks to a multimillion-dollar restoration project, a two-mile section of the river was designated as delayed-harvest stream, which is posted with black-and-white signs. Ararat River Fishing is open from Oct. 1 to May 31 with a catch-and-release system is in effect and is restricted to single-hook artificial lures. From June 1 until September 30, the status changes to hatchery-supported and a daily limit of seven fish is in effect.
