Heart n Soul Bed and Breakfast, built in 1901, is formally known as the William E. Merritt House. It features 5 suites: Pleasant Valley, Coventry, Stafford, Crystal Coast and Mount Airy. Each room represents the places the innkeepers have called home. Heart and Soul Bed and Breakfast is located in the heart of Mount Airy’s Historic district. The home is walking distance to downtown shops, restaurants, and shows. The Bed and Breakfast is open year round. The home is also available for weddings, receptions, and other special events.
The home is considered a reflection of the colonial revival era. This two-story home has a brick exterior with 18-inch thick walls, supplied by Mr. Merritt’s brickyard. It has a two and half story bay in the front, with a wrap-around porch. The house features granite string courses and window trim from the North Carolina Granite Corporation in Mount Airy, North Carolina. The house is 4500 square feet and features original hardwood floors and built in wood furnishings.
