Mitchell River Fishing includes a delayed-harvest stream, which means 0.6 miles of the river from S.R. 1333 to the S.R. 1330 bridge below Kapps Mill Dam is a catch-and-release system from Oct. 1 until May 31. Starting on June 1, the status changes to a hatchery-supported designation with a daily limit of seven fish. A public access point is provided on Zephyr-Mountain Park Road, off of Mount Park Road, just north of Elkin.
