Unleashed for a Day: Dog Park Open House
Unleashed for a Day: Dog Park Open House
The canine community will get a sneak peak of the first dog park in Mount Airy, a joint project of the Mount Airy and Surry Sunrise Rotary clubs. Residents can bring their pets to enjoy some outdoor fun between 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday, October 17, 2020.
Rotary organizers are opening the park to raise awareness and raise funds for the park.
Located in an area along the Lovill Creek greenway behind Lowes Foods, the park features a one-acre fenced-in lot with areas separated for large and small dogs. Participants can learn about future projects including seating, agility courses, drinking fountains, dog sculptures and memorial pavers.
Gift bags will be given to the first fifty attendees and their pups. Dog trainer Maggie Hawks with Hawks Alpine Canine will be on site at 1:15 p.m. along with dog agility trainer Michele Davis at 3:15 p.m. for demonstrations and tips. Reservations are required due to coronavirus restrictions. Please call the Mount Airy Parks and Recreation Department at (336) 786-8313 for reservations. Rain date is scheduled for Saturday, October 17, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, visit www.rotarypup.com.
