Andy, Aunt Bea, Wine & Dine (Half-Day Wine Trip)

This trip itinerary is designed for those looking to visit a few Yadkin Valley vineyards while getting in a few Mount Airy Attractions, all in one day! We hope you enjoy this Mayberry NC and Yadkin Valley Wine day trip.

Morning Sample wines and beers at Round Peak Vineyards and Skull Camp Brewing (open Sunday through Thursday), a Yadkin Valley vineyard just minutes from Interstate 77. Head to Downtown Mount Airy to Wally’s Service Station for a tour of Mount Airy in a vintage 1960s Ford Galaxy squad car. Drive to The Andy Griffith Museum for a look at the world’s largest collection of Andy Griffith memorabilia.

Lunch Walk to Old North State Winery to this urban winery and deli to taste of several wines and beers produced on site. Don’t forget to ask for a menu from the deli! Tip: Ask about the skeletal remains found in this old mercantile building and about the mysterious events that occur inside the building. Afternoon Drive to Shelton Vineyards, a Yadkin Valley vineyard, located off of Interstate 77 in Dobson. Take a one-hour, behind-the-scenes tour of the operations and spend time in the gift shop.

Tip: Don’t miss an opportunity to take a stroll of the grounds of this estate vineyard, spotting the nearby pond and beautiful landscape.

Lunch Eat lunch at Harvest Grill on the Shelton Vineyards’ property while enjoying your favorite Shelton wine from the tasting room.
