The Barn at Heritage Farm

The Barn at Heritage Farm is located on a farm in the foothills of NC and is available for weddings and events. They will open in October 2016. The farm is located on 70+ acres in the beautiful foothills of Dobson, North Carolina and is surrounded by rotating crops of tobacco, corn, soybeans, blackberries and blueberries. The barn has over 8,000 sq ft. and can accommodate 300. It also has a half loft containing handrails made from over 1,000 tobacco sticks. The inside is lit with wagon wheel lanterns and the main stage at the front has a 24-window view of Pilot Mountain. There is a covered porch with seating and fire pits, a bridal room, a groom’s room, & a catering room. There is also a farm pond on site can be used for pictures. Ask about the wedding packages!

Rocky Forest River Run – Kayaking and Tubing

Rocky Forest River Run is a Kayak, Canoe and Tube outfitter in Elkin who welcome everyone to come paddle with RFRR and enjoy the Yadkin River’s winding journey through Wilkes, Surry and Yadkin counties.

They offer 2 – 6 hour trips via sit in or sit on top kayaks, as well as canoes and tubes on Friday afternoons, Saturdays & Sundays.

Rocky Forest River Run is owned and operated by a local couple who have always enjoyed the water. They offer kayaking, canoeing, and tubing, with shuttle service, on 2 to 6 hour trips. Choose from kayaking, canoeing or tubing! They offer rentals as well as shuttle service for those who have their own boats/tubes. Each self-guided rental includes a boat of choice, paddle or oars, and a PFD.

For those who enjoy fishing, bring your rods and reels on the trip! There are a few shoals along the way that create some fun on your trip! Don’t forget to watch for wildlife, including birds, ducks, herons, geese, and turtles! They are open on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Call for reservations!

Autumn Leaves Festival – October 9-11 in Downtown Mount Airy

Fall has arrived, and here in Mount Airy, NC we celebrate the changing of the leaves with our annual Autumn Leaves Festival, now in its 49th year! The festival showcases our rich heritage, with food for the soul, music for the heart, and heritage crafts and demonstrations. Admission to the festival is free! The hours of the festival are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 12 to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
The entire downtown area is filled to the brim with arts and crafts vendors, delicious food, and plenty of local music, including a main bandstand on Independence Blvd featuring gospel, bluegrass, and old-time music, as well old-time musicians jamming under a tent on N. Main Street.

The unique arts & crafts of more than 200 craftsmen line the streets with many demonstrating their talents and skills passed down through the generations. There is plenty of “Food for the Soul” – ham biscuits, collard green sandwiches & cornbread, barbecue, hamburgers, ground steak sandwiches, donuts, hot dogs, baked goods, homemade apple butter, candy apples, funnel cakes, and MUCH more, served with hospitality by our local civic and other community groups.

Riverbank Trail Farm

Riverbank Trail Farm is located on 75 acres along the beautiful Dan River. It has 3 floors with 4 bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms. The main floor features a large, vaulted ceiling living room with fireplace, remodeled kitchen, dining room, and master bedroom and bath. The main floor opens to a large deck which overlooks green pastures and the Dan River. Just outside the back door, walk the mile-long trail along the river and enjoy tubing, kayaking, or fly-fishing for stocked trout. On the first floor, your family will enjoy the play room equipped with a regulation Ping-Pong table, darts, and various board and card games.
Your family can enjoy fishing along the mile-long river frontage. The river is stocked with trout March – July.
Tubing, kayaking, swimming, fishing, hiking, and mountain biking can all be done right on the 75 acre property. The home comes with 4 large tubes as well as two kayaks. A John Deer Gator is available for a nominal fee.

In the home is Dish Network satellite television with 2 large flat screens and Blu-Ray DVD players. No wifi or internet is available. A landline phone with unlimited long distance in the continental US is available.

The property is available for events and weddings!

Per-night pricing varies from $199 to $250 per night and the home sleeps up to 9, but can accommodate up to 11 with roll-away beds. A guest fee of $25 per person will apply if there are more than 6 people staying in the home.

The home is located about 20 minutes from Downtown Mount Airy and only a few minutes from Hanging Rock State Park!

There is a no pet policy, but small, crated dogs will be considered.

Christmas Tour of Homes – Dec. 6 & 7

The Mount Airy Restoration Foundation presents the Christmas Tour of Homes on Saturday, December 6 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, December 7 from 1 to 5 p.m. The homes may be visited in any order, on either day or both days.
Tickets are $15 each and are available at the Mount Airy Visitors Center, located at 200 N. Main Street in Downtown Mount Airy (on the corner of Moore Ave. and N. Main St, with the antique clock on the corner of our granite building). Tickets must be presented at each home on the tour.

Westwood Park Mountain Biking Trail

Westwood Park Mountain Biking Trail is located on the outskirts of downtown Mount Airy. It features a 5-mile mountain biking trail with lots of sweeping single-track sections and is an excellent trail for beginning mountain bikers. The path has several interesting mounds to ride up along with a few log crossings and a super-fast rolling downhill section.
