Posted on: March 23rd, 2016 by 89and52 No Comments

Welcome to Fly Fish Mayberry, headquartered in picturesque Surry County, North Carolina near historic Downtown Mt. Airy and just 25 minutes from Winston-Salem.

  • Fly Fishing Instruction and Education (Group and individual fly fishing lessons, clinics and seminars).
  • At Fly Fish Mayberry, we offer guided fly fishing trips for trout in the Northwest corner of North Carolina. From the Ararat River in downtown Mount Airy, to the wildest blue line headwaters along the Blue Ridge Parkway, we strive to custom design your trip based on current conditions, time of year and what you hope to get out of a day on the water.
  • Custom Rods & Handcrafted Tackle (We create personalized Tenkara rods and hand tie our own flies.)

Specializing in Tenkara fishing, a type of fly fishing that is easy to learn, relaxing and fun for the whole family to serious anglers, we also offer Western fly fishing and all fly fishing instruction, custom rods and handcrafted tackle.

Your customized fishing trip is based on current conditions, time of year, weather and productive areas. Within a short drive, we fish some of the most prolific trout waters in the Northwest Corner of the state: these are some of the most beautiful and untouched river systems in the world. Guided fishing charters to Virginia, Tennessee and internationally are also available with US Coast Guard Master Licensed Captain Kevin Merritt.

Private and group lessons are available for beginning and advanced anglers to brush up on skills or learn new techniques. Even if you’ve never held a fly rod, this is the fast track to getting on the water. Master classes and fishing trips also available.

To book a lesson, fishing charter or order a custom rod or tackle, call 239-821-0239 or email us at [email protected]

A Walk in the Woods – Enjoy the outdoors during all four seasons in Mount Airy, NC!

Mount Airy, NC is lucky to have multiple parks and outdoor spaces to enjoy the beauty of all four seasons. We have two Greenway Trails in town – the Emily B. Taylor Greenway at Lovill’s Creek and the Ararat River Greenway Trail, which runs along the river between Riverside Park on Riverside Drive and Tharrington School Park on Bluff Street. They Greenway Trails are flat and perfect for walking, jogging, riding bikes, kayaking, and/or just enjoying the day. There are plenty of spots along the way to picnic, fish, or just sit by the river and watch the water roll by! The Ararat River is stocked with trout every year, so it’s a great spot for fishing!
Riverside Park is also a favorite spot for locals and visitors, with two picnic shelters, a huge playground, basketball court, outdoor skateboard park, and public restrooms. Riverside Park is located very close to Downtown Mount Airy!
