Scoops Ice Cream & Such

Scoops Ice Cream & Such is a hidden gem in a rural area of Surry County, yet located close to I-77, just off of Hwy 89 (W. Pine Street). Scoops is home to a unique ice cream parlor in a converted camper van, with plenty of seating on multiple levels of patio, decorated with beautiful metal sculptures created by artist and Scoops’ owner Chazz Elstone. Grab a sundae or ice cream cone and take a stroll through the sculpture garden in the trees, located across the yard from the ice cream parlor. You will be delighted at the unique and symbolic art located on the nature path that meanders through the forest, complete with a beautiful forest chapel!

Scoops is open seasonally, April through September on Wednesday through Saturday from 12 to 9 p.m. and Sundays from 2 to 9 p.m.

Located on Rt. 89, just west of I- 74 (exit 6) and I-77 (exit 100) in Mount Airy, NC! Serving 20+ flavors of Mayfield Premium ice cream in funky setting!

Emily B. Taylor Greenway

The Emily B. Taylor Greenway is a 2 and 3/8 miles of paved, multi-purpose trail that follows Lovill’s Creek and U.S. 52 that goes from West Lebanon Street to Worth Street in Mount Airy. Each quarter mile is marked with a granite marker, courtesy of Mount Airy Granite. Public parking is available behind Roses Shopping Center, Veteran’s Park, and behind Frank’s Cinema on NC 89 (Pine Street).

Ararat River Greenway Trail

The Ararat River Greenway is a paved 2.2-mile paved Greenway Trail from Riverside Park to Tharrington Park )beside Tharrington Elementary School). This section of the Ararat River has been restored and is a great area for wildlife viewing, kayaking, canoeing, and trout fishing. The entire length of the Greenway Trail is stocked with trout. There are multiple canoe/kayak/tube launch stations along the trail as well as multiple areas for sitting by the river. A restroom is available halfway down the trail, off on a side trail to the environmental park. Restrooms are also available at Riverside Park.
When exploring, look for TRACK (Trails Ridges and Active Caring Kids) Trail Adventure guides along the trail or online at www.kidsinparks.com. Created by the Blue Ridge Foundation, the guides offer educational opportunities for children.

We work hard to provide quality care and instruction to both horse and rider.  Offering Hunter Jumper and Western riding lessons on proven school horses for children and adults of all skill levels.
Additionally, we offer miles and miles of trails  with gorgeous views. We have trailer hook-ups, overnight boarding and cabin rentals through Luna Farms onsite for your convenience.
